Microsoft has recently announced changes to their license program Microsoft 365, Dynamics 365, and Power Platform. With the ‘Microsoft New Commerce Experience’ customers can enter a 1 month or 12-month subscription. Alongside these changes, Microsoft has also announced its first price increase in over a decade.
What Microsoft is offering to Businesses
Microsoft introduced the Microsoft New Commerce Experience to simplify and streamline how customers can buy from Microsoft. Microsoft wants to give businesses more options for tailoring their purchases to meet their needs.
Important dates for Microsoft New Commerce changes coming into effect?
01/03/2022: Price increase in March 2022.
10/03/2022: Any brand-new subscriptions will be through NCE
01/07/2022: Second NCE enforcement for existing subscriptions
Price increases:
As well as the contractual change, Microsoft is increasing the cost of Microsoft 365 licenses by up to 20%. So for standard annual plans, you will pay up to 20% more.
Annual subscriptions can be paid monthly or yearly. Three-year subscriptions will soon be available.
For monthly plans, Microsoft is applying an additional 20% increase. So, to move to monthly, you could pay up to 40% more than current rates (initial increase plus 20% for monthly).
Save on Microsoft Subscriptions
Importantly, by switching subscriptions to an Annual Commitment before the 1st of March, you will not only receive a 5% discount on current pricing for 12 months, you will also avoid the scheduled Microsoft price rises due to come into effect on 1st March 2022.
