Microsoft announced an exciting new development this week. It’s one that promises to save even more money for businesses, as well as bringing some useful updates and productivity tools to your armoury.
Our Managing Director, Dean Spencer commented, “Finally, Windows 10 is available as a subscription service. Business owners have been waiting for this for a long time, as it gives companies the ability to keep up to date with the latest technology in Windows AND Office. Plus, the prices are really good.”
Up to now, the software that supports and runs programmes (your operating system) has been out of step with business software infrastructures. Office 365 subscriptions made sure you had the latest tools, but it was still up to individuals to keep their operating systems up to date.
With Microsoft 365 Business, that’s no longer the case. If you’re still running Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 your new subscription automatically entitles you to a Windows 10 Pro upgrade. You need to be already running either Windows 7, 8.1 or 10 Pro (with the Creators Update) to take advantage of Microsoft 365 Business. If you’re not, and want to know more, give us a call.
Who is Microsoft 365 Business for?
It’s for small to medium sized businesses that have little or no dedicated IT staff, and don’t rely on an Active Directory domain controller. These businesses still need the best tools for productivity and collaboration, mobile device management, and robust security.
Useful New Features
Microsoft have added three new apps to stand alongside current working tools like Outlook and Bookings. Those three are Listings, Invoicing and Connections.
- Listings – lets you control how your business information appears online in places such as Facebook, Yelp, Bing or Google. You could do this before, of course, but now you can do it all from one place. This shortcuts the need to hop from app to app, streamlining the process and making it much easier. At the moment, this feature only supports one location.
- Invoicing – is a service that connects with Dynamics 365 and popular online accounting packages such as QuickBooks. It also has a Paypal payment option. You can track pending payments and add discounts or turn estimates in to invoices.
- Connections – is your new digital marketing tool. This email marketing client lets you use templates for newsletters and list announcements, plus you can track referrals and offer discounts and promotions. A nice feature is the ability to see who opened your emails and, being template based, makes it easy to put together attractive campaigns.
We know security is at the heart of many of our customers concerns. MD, Dean Spencer noted, “Microsoft 365 Business automatically enables Windows Defender. It means customers have peace of mind that computers have the very latest security updates to protect their businesses”.
Keeping up with mobile tech advances, there’s an additional security feature that businesses will welcome. This feature requires a PIN before employees can access work accounts on personal devices, and prevents them copy/pasting company data into personal emails.
Microsoft 365 Business finally offers the best of Microsoft programmes, features and security all in one package. It’s a welcome development, and one we feel all business owners should consider.
